BEFORE & AFTER

I Heart Faces has a contest on Fridays called Fix it Fridays. They give you a pic and you edit it, that's it. But what is so interesting to me is how so many different people can edit the same pic in so many different ways. Some get my response of "oooh, that's pretty" and others I think "oooh, that's uh... different" :-) Everyone has a different preference, a different eye, and there really is not a right or wrong way to edit as long as you like it. :-)

Here's a look at what I do while editing. These pics are from Crystal and RJ's beautiful Ashton Villa wedding last weekend (more pics coming soon!). The pic on the left is straight out of camera (unedited RAW). I knew when I saw this pic I wanted it to be black and white. It of course gives it the timeless look that I was going for but also gives more detail to the chandelier and lighting. So I did the regular sharpening and fine tuning in Photoshops Camera RAW, I converted to black and white (layer) and adjusted the levels. Big thing I did here really is the removal of the ceiling fan and the little bit of door opening in the left of the pic. That was done with the clone stamp and patch tools. The ceiling fan took away from the beauty of the chandelier and the door frame drew my eye off of the couple. You can still barely see the top of the fan attached to the ceiling but I don't think it is noticeable, it blends into the chandelier just fine for me.



The next two photos show a minor edit. After opening in camera RAW I only had to brighten faces and apply a little antique toning to the color of the photo. I removed a small stray hair on the brides face and made her skin look even more perfect than it already was :-) Small change but it's the little things that can turn a regular pic into a something really special.

I might be a girl and I might not be a fighter but I DO know MMA. It's a fast pace sport, you blink you'll miss the shot. It's a challenge on your photo skills, low light, fast pace, shooting through a cage, other photographers trying to beat you to the shot. I love that I have been given the opportunity to combine two of my favorite things. Thank you Scott Dawson and Chris Reed of IXFA for believing in me and giving me this amazing job!

Baby Bear Brynlee

I can't put into words how much Bruce and Laura Cervantez and their family mean to me and my husband. Jason and Bruce have been friends since like 1984! They are a huge part in our life at our gym 646 Martial Arts and I lost count how many times I have taken pictures of the family. Which makes this recent session the most special to me, the birth of their FIRST and only girl!! Brynlee Mae Cervantez is going to be one tough and WELL protected little girl! With a scary fourth degree black belt dad and THREE brothers who are on their way to a black belt, I feel sorry for any boy who even smiles at her!! Congratulations Bruce and Laura, I love yall and can't wait to watch Brynlee grow and be BFF with my Rosalie :-)

Cutie Patootie Ava

This Cutie Patootie was not buying what I was selling!! Her mother and I had TONS of outfits, shoes, bows and props and little Ava just laughed at our efforts :-) I loved holding this little one though, she gave me baby fever...... uh oh!!!! But seriously, just look at that sweet face! Don't you just want to squeeze those cheeks!! I heart Ava.

Mean Gene

I have the privilege to know Eugene Hill and I know that he really isnt all that mean :-) I guess I shouldn't announce that, it could be bad for his image. However, if you have ever seen him box, you know that his hands are mean as hell! Check out Eugene's new headshots, autographed copies will be available soon!!

O yes and by the way, this is the FIRST post using my new blog layout. I think I love it a whole whole lot! Notice how now you can see the photos! YAY!! I think I might be getting better at this blogging thing now!!
